Case 17 - Slurred speech
Clinical formulation
Left XII palsy with left-sided occipital headache. It is difficult to localising the lesion further along the nerve's path - but there is concern for metastatic cancer. With the headache, a skull base metastasis affecting the hypoglossal canal is a concern. Dissection and thrombosis are other considerations given the pain. Imaging is key.
